Siegel-Kline Kill -> Schodack Island
Here is a nice ride. It’s approximately thirty minutes in length, with a low stop sign count, and very light traffic! The ride as defined is south to north, but is excellent in both directions. Picturesque farms with large barns and silos dot the countryside as you roll through the winding country roads. There are creeks and ponds along the way, and some distant views of the Catskill Mountains. It starts at the Siegel-Kline Kill Preserve and ends at the Schodack Island State Park. The video is from late April, and you will see many flowering trees and perennials in bloom as you travel through the farmland and towns at this time of the year. This area is renowned for its autumn foliage, but don’t overlook these beautiful colors that only appear for a short time in mid to late spring! Don’t forget to come back again in the fall for another completely different (and awesome) look!

Directions: Turn right coming out of the Siegel-Kline Kill Preserve onto Columbia County 21, heading north. Stay on route 21, which becomes Rensselaer County 1 when you cross the county line. Take a left on US 9J, and Schodack Island State Park will be on your right.
Tips:
You have to make two left turns to stay on county route 21, one at the beginning: where county route 21B goes straight — turn left to stay on county route 21. There’s a second left coming into Kinderhook, where NY route 9H goes straight — turn left to stay on county route 21.
